How to extend the life of your new Om & Ah apparel

Posted on July 30 2017

Congratulations on receiving your Om & Ah London items!

We know you want your apparel to stay looking great in the months and years ahead, so here are some tips to keep your clothes looking like brand new.

Quick tip: We carry many different types of clothing, so different items will require different care. These directions are just a general reference to help you maintain the quality of your apparel. Always make sure to check the care instructions on your garment’s tag for the best way to clean your items.

  • Wash your clothing inside-out with cold water. This will protect the printing and embroidery on your items, and it’s great for your energy bill (and the environment)!

  • Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. This will make the letters on your printed apparel to peel off and can cause discoloration on embroidered items. Using a stain remover on spots is fine, but harsh cleaning products will lessen the life of your clothes.

Some all-natural alternatives we suggest: adding 1/2 cup of baking soda dissolved in water or 1 cup of white vinegar.

  • Dry your clothing on low heat. Or better yet, lay your clothing out flat to dry. Drying on high heat really takes a toll on your clothes. Never set your dryer on the highest heat setting; this prevents shrinkage and protects the print on your apparel.

  • Do not dry clean.

Printed apparel:

All tees, briefs, hoodies, active wear, and tote bags fall under this category.

  • Don’t iron the printed areas on your apparel. If you really must, turn the item inside out before going over it with an iron to protect the vinyl.

  • Wash similar clothes together. This applies not just to colors, but also to textures! Fabric rubbing together in the washer or dryer creates pills on your clothes, and the friction could result in vinyl prints cracking or peeling off completely.

Embroidered apparel:

The boyfriend button-down shirts and denim jackets fall under this category.

  • Do not leave your embroidered clothes wet, or soak for an extended amount of time.

Following these tips will allow your Om & Ah apparel to stay in tip-top shape, and it’ll do wonders for the environment and your electricity bill in the process. It’s a win-win-win situation!
